Our Purpose --Motivated by the love of Jesus Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit, Markoma exists to assist the family and the local church by preparing young people for a complete life under the Lordship of Jesus Christ in all aspects of life to eternity. We seek to accomplish our purpose through:

Enabling young hearts to love God,
Encouraging young souls to please God,
Engaging young minds to seek God, and
Empowering young people to serve God in the nations
and thereby glorify God.

Dynamic Student Body --- Coming from many parts of the world to attend Markoma, students find themselves in a unique situation. Our graduates literally hail from around the globe... Germany, Mexico, Argentina, Mongolia, Japan, Korea and others. Because of this, Markoma students are exposed to a multi-cultural experience that helps to broaden their horizons. American students and staff from the local area provide opportunities for international students to become involved in caring local churches and homes within the community. At Markoma, simply talking with friends can be a learning experience.

A Home Away from Home ---- For over forty years, the Lord has been working through Markoma to meet the needs of High School boarding students. As more commuters have enrolled, and a commuting Junior High has been added, many things have changed, but we still strive to create a Christ-centered family atmosphere for all students.
For the boarding student, his or her host parents aren't just "parents," but "Christian parents" to those under their care. They require order and discipline while maintaining a spirit of love that invites confidence and meets emotional and spiritual needs. Our International Student Advisor works to make sure that Markoma really is "a home away from home."

Tahlequah, A Great Place to Discover --- Tahlequah, recently named one of the top 100 small towns in America, is situated in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains. As the home of the Cherokee Nation since 1834, the area is rich in history and tradition. With a major regional university, Northeastern State University located nearby, many opportunities for the arts, research, special educational opportunities and technology exist year round.
